Waves 1.1 Birth of the Universe36"x36" Acrylic on Canvas 2022 Birth of the Universe is my exploration of the cosmic beginnings—a visual journey into the chaos and harmony of creation. In this piece, I used overlapping layers to symbolize interconnectedness, while radiant bursts of light suggest expansion. The circular motifs, which often appear in my work, are inspired by the shape of the seed. To me, they represent both inception and completion, connecting the infinite to the intimate. | Waves 1.2 Serpentine44" x 22.5" Acrylic on Panel 2025 I see the world in veils and overlaying pathways colliding into the moment. A memoir for resilience, this piece is a visual meditation on how even the most minor actions can create waves that reverberate outward. | Waves 1.3 Portal36" x 24" Framed Acrylic on Canvas 2025 My works start with layers of patterns that eventually get dissolved, hidden, revealed, and pulled back in. I never truly know where the piece is going. The experience is very responsive and intuitive. Letting the work rest or challenging it with risky brushwork and muddled color has been the best way to keep the work alive, growing, and evolving. |

Waves 1.4 Manifest36" x 24" Framed Acrylic on Canvas 2025 This piece feels like a convergence of layers—geological, emotional, and temporal. Inspired by the winding paths of rivers and the ancient wisdom embedded in rock formations, it explores the interplay between surface and depth, movement and stillness. The dark triangular forms evoke the silhouettes of mountains or pyramids, standing as sentinels of time, while the flowing lines of the river act as connective threads between the seen and unseen. Manifest | Waves 1.5 Tidal Cycles60" x 36" Acrylic on Canvas 2025 The potential, passion, and process of creating these paintings pulls on the strands of my heart. Circular forms ripple through the composition, mirroring a churn of emotions as I devote time to my craft. Waves intersect and overlap, reflecting aspects of my womanhood — from fertility and the womb to the weight of time's passage. | Caves 2.1 In the Shade32" x 24" Acrylic on Panel 2023 Taking one piece of a puzzle, repeating it, expanding it, and building another form beyond- this is how I begin abstraction. This work has been instrumental in testing and expanding my color palette, including subtle tone hue and tint variations. Starting from a shadow I found in the corner of the art studio, cast by the furniture at Golden Hour one April. This work is the flagship painting for the Caves Series. |
Caves 2.2 Catacombs and Cathedrals48" x 24" Acrylic on Panel 2024 After the Smithsonian published an article highlighting the secret passages beneath the Alhambra, I started thinking about the darker, deeper places that I hold in myself. The catacombs and levels beneath the surface, mirroring the curved arches and tapering windows of the old fort above, are rarely accessible to the public. The Alhambra’s dark, secluded pathways were kept hidden and safe for its denizens to move across the complex unseen. | Caves 2.4 Codes of Compression48" x 36" Framed Acrylic on Canvas 2025 What I love about maps is that they always come with a key. Geological markings and the research collected through exploration become symbols. Symbols are used in all types of science and investigations and communicate beyond words and across fields. They have a universality and a playfulness- known or unknown. | Caves 2.5 A New Cave40" x 30" Acrylic on Canvas 2025 Using codes and patterns from a cartographic map, my inspiration for this work came from an article on newly discovered caves. A circular patterned grid mimicking structures in society or points on a graph is abstracted from the scientific collection of samples from a cave in Iceland. Just as maps help us understand our outer world, I see painting and art-making as a true investigation into my inner world. |
aves 2.6 Seed in the DarkAcrylic on Panel 2021 The vesica piscis is an almond-shaped geometric form created by intersecting two circles of equal size. The center of each circle is on the edge of the other, a lens, or a nestle. At the center of this union, I see the shape of a seed. | Terra 4.1 Tales from Alhambra40" x 28" Acrylic on Panel 2024 This piece was born from a deep dive into my old travel photos from Spain. Inspired by the detailed architecture of the Moorish Fort Alhambra, I am drawn to the curves, geometries, and ornate rhythms of their “ode to water.” Memories of place are recalled in my mind like soft layers, fuzzy around the edges, where emotion melds into layers of color. The initial inspiration of a place expands and grows within our memories as a series of layers. Shapes appear and re | Terra 4.2 Seeded in Fire36" x 36" Acrylic on Canvas 2023 When I first encountered this canvas, its bold red surface felt confrontational, almost overwhelming—a color that demanded attention and refused to be ignored. I leaned into the discomfort, allowing the unfamiliarity to guide me. That surrender became the foundation of this work and marked the beginning of the Terra Series. I started painting this piece just days after the CZU Wildfire when destruction and renewal were inseparable forces in my life. The process |
Terra 4.2 Mandorla Dentata12" x 36" Framed Acrylic on Canvas 2021 | Terra 4.3 Terra Forma24" x 36" Framed Acrylic on Canvas 2023 "Every landscape is a piece of the soul." – Henri-Frédéric Amiel. This was the first painting created after graduate school from a series of layers and informed by an internal landscape. Seeing land and cities from an aerial view, I overlay parts of my experience through veils of color. Here, landmarks are like honing beacons celebrating the points across the land I am drawn to. Stepping back, I observe and reflect on my lush connection to place. | Terra 4.4 Metamorphic Churn48" x 36" Acrylic on Panel 2025 This work began in 2014, just before I had fallen out of my relationship with painting. In 2020, we had to evacuate our home during the devastating Santa Cruz Mountain Wildfires. We took refuge at a neighboring property to help protect an artists' compound from the encroaching flames. After spending days digging trenches and clearing trees to fortify a fireline, I found this painting tucked away in a corner of the cabin where we were staying. It drew me in, becom |
Terra 4.5 Land and Longing40" x 30" Acrylic on Canvas 2025 Most paintings highlight pattern repetition to honor and remember cultures I have experienced. This painting depicts a scene overlooking the Bay Area towards the Golden Gate Bridge's current location, incorporating the East Bay's undulating hills. I've drawn inspiration from the woven objects of the Muwekma Ohlone people, as well as the poetry written on the walls of the detention center holding Chinese immigrants on Angel Island. This piece is a personal tribut | Prism 3.1 Belvedere of an Archive24" x 36" Framed Acrylic on Canvas 2023 This painting was started in 2017, then laid dormant in the various nooks and crannies of my studios while I hopscotched my way through post-grad chaos. Fresh out of the MFA grind, I was still recovering from over-research-induced brain fog and wrestling with big questions about how my surroundings shape my reality. When deciding where it would head next, I returned to maps and codes because “when in doubt, I chart it out.” Since 2023, it’s been proudly | Prism 3.2 The Spectrum of Place48" x 36" Acrylic on Panel 2024 "Color is a power which directly influences the soul." –Wassily Kandinsky. The Spectrum of Place began as a live painting in 2019 at Golden Gate Park beneath the Monterey Cypress Trees. As the flagship piece of the Prism Series, I struggled to balance the vivid light colors with the dark spaces. The solution was to explore the shades of gray. This work honors the interplay of bright light and deep darkness, as if the sky and light were chopped into puzzle pieces |
Prism 3.3 Angular Light24" x 48" Acrylic on Panel 2025 This artwork, a companion piece to The Spectrum of Place, delves into the playful dynamics of geometry and light. Here, I celebrate the power of angular forms and their ability to refract and reshape light into kaleidoscopic hues. Through this piece, I aim to challenge and expand the viewer’s understanding of spatial relationships, using my canvas as a field where color and form converge in unexpected, joyous compositions. | Prism 3.4 A Century to Bloom24" x 36" Framed Acrylic on Canvas 2024 A Century to Bloom encapsulates my endless fascination with the patterns and systems of the natural world, using the slow yet striking journey of the agave as a mirror to my artistic growth. This work merges familiar landscapes with a surreal atmosphere, where memory and change weave together like the intricate systems of nature. By illustrating the agave, which blooms magnificently after decades, I honor the beauty of gradual evolution—both in nature an | Prism 3.5 Polarity and Parallels36" x 72" Acrylic on Canvas 2025 There are many paths and perspectives available in both life and art. This work reflects my intuitive, somewhat chaotic process—a sharp contrast to the smooth, predictable roles society often expects us to fill. Here, thin layers and sudden shifts signify potential paths that emerge from embracing each intuitive whisper or spark of inspiration. While the process may seem chaotic, I thrive precisely in this complexity, finding ways to create order and meaning. T |
Glyph 5.1 Reunion48” x 36” Acrylic on Panel 2020 As architectural forms create a means of passage, an arch or entryway marked with glyphs deciphers what lies ahead. The challenges of introspection are like my relationship with doors and windows. To see through, to pass by, or to enter is a continuous practice of choice and, at times, chance. My language is influenced by nature, technology, and intuition. I use this practice to decode my experience. This piece is inspired by having opposition within myself and | Glyph 5.2 Embed38” x 30” Framed Acrylic on Panel 2020 Crafted during a journey through the expansive deserts of the southwest amidst the solitude of the pandemic, this painting captures the profound interplay between the stark, vast landscapes and the vibrant life that pulses beneath. The fluid forms and swirling colors echo the undulating sands and resilient flora, mirroring the inner resilience and adaptability required during such unprecedented times. Each curve and hue in the painting invites viewers to | Glyph 5.3 Arches36” x 24” Framed Acrylic on Canvas 2020 Arches, a pivotal piece in my Gateway by Glyph series, encapsulates my artistic journey. It embodies my exploration of the seamless interaction between natural elements and structured codes, reflecting my deep fascination with how environments shape our perceptions. This work invites viewers to navigate the abstract terrains I create, encouraging personal exploration of emotional landscapes through art. It is a cornerstone of my evolving artistic identit |
Glyph 5.4 Umbra30” x 24” Acrylic on Panel 2020 The weighted dark feminine resides within the shadow of the moon, reminding me that wherever there is a light source, there is a possibility of a hidden seed waiting to bloom. The growth potential comes not only from light but also from darkness. |
